Details of the February 20, 2016 Service Interruption

Dear friends,

you might have been affected by ABBYY Cloud OCR SDK service interruption that occurred on Saturday.
We apologize for potential impact to your business and thank you for your patience. The problem has been already resolved, please see the details below.

Issue summary

Duration: February 20 2016 16:15 – February 20 2016 20:45 UTC

ABBYY Cloud OCR SDK service was unavailable between 16:15 and 20:45 UTC on February 20th, 2016 due to a major database service performance issue which was linked to a resource-intensive maintenance operation. Normally the database service performance is appropriately increased before the maintenance operation and then lowered to normal once the maintenance operation is completed. This time after the maintenance operation successfully completed the process of restoring the database service performance ran abnormally and this caused a prolonged major performance degradation in the database service. We’re investigating the exact reasons for this degradation with the database service provider and ways to avoid such performance degradation in the future.

Within that period of time, the Service was not able to accept new tasks for processing, and some of you experienced issues with connectivity to ABBYY Cloud OCR SDK.

According to our monitoring system, the ABBYY Cloud OCR SDK service is working as usual now.
This incident does not require any actions from our customers.
